
KLAUS OSTERRIEDER
Klaus Osterrieder was born on 10.06.1962 in Langdorf in Lower Bavaria. He is a former German heavyweight boxer and kickboxer. In 1975, he was already junior champion in southern Bavaria at the age of 16.
In 1983 at the 1860 Munich vs Split (Croatia) tournament, his opponent was the then three-time WAKO amateur world champion Branko Cikatić, who won the first K1 World Grand Prix in 1993. Klaus Osterrieder lost this fight on points. A good friendship developed between the two fighters. Branko Cikatić became Klaus Osterrieder's trainer and sparring partner.
Klaus Osterrieder won the title at the 1986 WAKO International German Championships. He won the first fight by knockout and the second fight by technical knockout.
In 1986, at the Upper Bavarian Amateur Boxing Championships, Osterrieder won both fights by technical knockout.
At the WAKO Kickboxing World Championships on October 10/11, 1987 in the Munich Olympic Hall, Klaus Osterrieder achieved 3rd place. The verdict of his semi-final defeat was very controversial. Watch the video HERE.
His first professional boxing match took place in 1989 at the Hilton Hotel in Munich. His opponent was Nowak Radanovic and Klaus Osterrieder won by technical knockout in round 4.
At the 1989 Kickboxing World Championship PKO in Berlin's Deutschlandhalle, the best fighters from the USA fought against the best fighters from Germany. Osterrieder's opponent was Jerry Rhome, three-time amateur world champion and two-time professional world champion (54 wins, 45 KOs). Klaus Osterrieder lost the fight very narrowly on points.
